Why This Reference Exists
Taylor County land information is spread across separate records systems. The County Clerk records deeds and instruments; the Assessor keeps the annual roll and maps; the Sheriff’s Tax Office handles tickets and delinquent land; and municipal offices may hold permit or code files. The statewide GIS viewer supplies parcel context. This reference points readers to the custodian for each record and notes where an online search, office request or archive may be needed.
What the Taylor County Pages Include
- Record-type pages: property search, deed records, property tax records, and parcel maps
- County custodians: Taylor County Clerk, Taylor County Assessor, Sheriff’s Tax Office, and the statewide mapping tools
- Lookup methods: find a parcel by address or owner, confirm a deed party, and understand map and assessment limits
- Access routes: online portals, office contacts, archives and requests under West Virginia FOIA
What the Reference Cannot Do
This is a privately operated reference, not a government office and not part of Taylor County or West Virginia government. It has no authority to retrieve, certify, change or interpret a custodian’s official file. Its limits include:
- We do not obtain, certify or amend records for a visitor
- We do not perform title work or promise that a parcel has clear ownership
- We do not appraise land or set the Assessor’s value
- We cannot advise on a deed, boundary issue or tax protest
- Portal terms, copy fees and office procedures may change after research
The custodian office confirms, certifies or corrects its file; a title company or licensed surveyor handles title or boundary work. This reference is not a consumer reporting agency and has no FCRA-regulated use.
